Something you should know about Drop Shadow! Nobody makes a better drop shadow than us!
We urge you to read about the problems with drop shadow vinyl layered decals. We have solved the problem with delamination of the layers.
A shadow decal is nothing more than a bottom layer of text or image that is laid under the main text or image to create the illusion of a shadow. The bottom layer (shown in black) is both a shadow effect and it is the base for which the top layer which is laid upon and bonds to the bottom layer. So a shadow is created when the bottom layer is extended beyond the boundaries of the top layer of vinyl.

STREETGLO SHADOW - LONGER LASTING
Here at StreetGlo, we do a procedure we call "Hedging". Our hedging procedure guarantees that the top layer of vinyl will never have it's adhesive side exposed to the elements. This procedure involves altering the shadow layer so that it extends beyond the top layer even on the flush side. This action prevents any overhang of the top layer and this keeps the top layer sealed to the bottom layer for the life of the whole decal! This small adjustment is another design step for us but it's the only way we make shadow effect decals.
Insist on StreetGlo's Hedged Shadow design. It is your guaranteed that us silly humans can't mess up your decal!
All of our shadow decals include the additional protection of hedging - to insure the longest lasting decal!
When the vinyl mechanic makes a shadow,it is done by laying a top layer of vinyl on the bottom layer as perfectly as possible (by hand) to create the final decal. In a shadow lay up, one side is always flush with the top and bottom layer. This flush side is where problems develop over time. Because this procedure is done by hand, the flush side often includes small areas whereby the top layer is actually overhanging the bottom layer. This creates a canopy effect for the top layer and keeps the top layer from remaining bonded to the bottom layer over the course of time, wind, rain, and heat exposure. Only when the top and bottom layers are perfectly flush can you avoid delaminating problems. Not all decals have these problems but some do and avoiding this situation will extend the lifetime of your decal.
